Avril doesn't have "much respect for Bush!"

Canadian superstar Avril Lavigne's "Try and Shut Me Up" tour kicks off with a sold-out show in Toronto tonight. The star recently made some brave and outspoken comments about the war in Iraq following the Juno Awards in Ottawa on Sunday. She told reporters at a press conference that she opposed the war and supported the Prime Minister's decision to keep Canadian troops out of the conflict. She admitted that she did not follow the news on a daily basis, and said, "I'm not a really political person," but also said that she knew the "obvious things." The 18-year old Juno-winner went on to say, "I don't have respect for the people that made the decisions to go with the war. I don't have much respect for Bush. He's about war, I'm not about war - a lot of people aren't about war." "It's hard for me to talk about the war, " Avril told reporters, "I don't really know what to say but I can say that I'm really proud that our Prime Minister didn't fight." If you get your news from Wolf Blitzer (God forbid), you'll be informed that the world is oozing with respect for Bush. Utter tripe! The world is disgusted by bullies, especially bullies that don't apologize for allowing the Iraq's (and the world's) precious ancient heritage to be ransacked. The fact is, Bush is a laughingstock around the world and Avril Lavigne is only voicing the sentiments of the majority.
